My work shows that I used a variety of social and interactive practices that involve recursive stages of exploration, discovery, conceptualization, and development. I showed this in my Research Paper and its three re-writes. My first time writing the essay I used the right citation format, but after over thinking I thought I did it wrong so I used more quotations in the next re-write. After a class recently though I realized I did use the right format and had to change it back. Another example is when I looked at your feedback about indenting, I was not exactly sure until we hopped on zoom on December 7th. You cleared things up for me and my writing in a big way with the use of indentation. My last example would be all the times I had to research on Google Scholar. I would not have known about this website if Professor Hodges did not tell me after our first zoom meeting. With the Google Scholar search bar I gathered valuable and reliable information in my White Paper a bunch of different times so I could write the other argument essay’s.

Core Value 2. My work demonstrates that I read critically, and that I placed texts into conversation with one another to create meaning by synthesizing ideas from various discourse communities.

I demonstrate this on many occasions, but to keep it short and simple; my Research Paper is the best example of this. I used a bunch of texts to back up my claims and would combine ideas to make stronger cases for one claim. An example of this is the alternative for opioids such as cannabis, acupuncture, and chiropractic practices.

Core Value 3. My work demonstrates that I rhetorically analyzed the purpose, audience, and contexts of my own writing and other texts and visual arguments.

My work demonstrates this through my Rebuttal Argument. For my one topic I decided to choose the overprescription of opioids caused by doctors. Naturally this is a scary idea so I had to be mindful in reminding my audience that not all doctors accept kickbacks for prescribing a opioid; some doctors and physicians are perfectly moral. I also had to stay conscious of the opponent’s argument for instance; what else would we use if not opioids after surgeries. I responded with a list of alternatives. Another question was how can we tell the public of a doctors shady prescribing. By keeping a higher up who tracks doctors prescribing in certain areas of states.

Core Value 4: My work demonstrates that I have met the expectations of academic writing by locating, evaluating, and incorporating illustrations and evidence to support my own ideas and interpretations.

This core value was met when I was describing and explaining my Visual Rhetoric assignment. For this assignment I had to watch an advertisement on drunk driving twice. Once with sound and once without. I would stop the ad every time there was a different frame cut and would explain almost every thing down to the finest detail in the scene and what it would symbolize. I also demonstrated this in my Definition Rewrite paper by providing evidence to back a few different claims.

Core Value 5. My work demonstrates that I respect my ethical responsibility to represent complex ideas fairly and to the sources of my information with appropriate citation.

I demonstrated this core value several times, but I would say the best example of this would be my Definition Rewrite paper. In this paper, I discussed multiple claims while defining several topics as well as found out when the use opioids first started. I also demonstrate this core value with my Causal Argument paper being precise and using the right causes and effects throughout the use of opioids.
