A huge problem Vancouver is experiencing is heroin addicts committing crimes in order to support their habits. The “free heroin for addicts” program was established to help stop addicts committing crimes in order to recieve drugs. It has become obvious that addicts struggle to get through day to day life. Daily activities such as jobs, interactions, and relationships are hard to maintain because of usage. Heroin users who are addicted will do whatever it takes to get the drug. The most frequent types of crime are breaking and entering as well as stealing. There are no limits to where one will go to retrieve this drug in order to feed the addiction. The problem with this program is that it won’t help to ween addicts off heroin. The goal of this program is solely to reduce the cities rising crime rates committed by addicts. By providing the drug, addicts will be off the streets, which in turn will prevent minor street crime. The use of the “free heroin for addicts” will also keep users out of the hospital. The program will provided free heroin in the cleanest way to heroin addicts. The use of the “free heroin for addicts” program will in turn fix the city but not the addiction that addicts face.
