I was able to do multiple researches and really find interesting contributing factors as to what makes up a gang and why people decide to join. Even if they are dangerous for the communities,  I  found it very interesting how people who join gangs come from a common background. Things like race, parental influences, age and common goals can create a gang. I was also able to identify organizations who help former gang members, where they identified some of the aspects that help deter the youth from gangs.

Core Value 2. My work demonstrates that I read critically, and that I placed texts into conversation with one another to create meaning by synthesizing ideas from various discourse communities.

I was able to find  multiple sources which provided me with conversations, clarifying the issue that there is with the lack of police officers. Some examples were conversations between danielle outlaw, the philadelphia police commissioner, where she asked harrisburg for help due to the increasing number of police officers renouncing, and the conversation with an ex academy applicant which didn’t seem to have any response on her application due to covid.

Core Value 3. This is one of the essays I put the most effort in. I was able to read through the “ more guns,less crime” by author John. R. Lotts, and analyze his point of view as to why he believes that more guns will reduce the violent crime rates. At one point of my life, I used to share the same beliefs just as many Americans do, but I was able to find good reasonings in order 

to respectfully contradict his beliefs, hoping to cause doubt and allow readers to take my point of view into consideration.

The visual essay allowed me to have my own point of view, interpret it and give readers a detailed interpretation of what was going on throughout the video. The visual essay also allowed me to find a new descriptive vocabulary, challenging me to use words strong enough to allow readers to have a visual representation through words of the situation and what was going on.

My research paper represents long hours of research, editing, revising and structuring a complex and counterintuitive idea not supported by many people. I was able to find cause and effect situations which support my thesis stating that the second amendment should be banned due to the high increases in violence. There was also a conjunction of rebuttals and causal arguments which allowed my research paper to come together as one, supported by many references and scholar articles .
