Core Value 1. My work demonstrates that I used a variety of social and interactive practices that involve recursive stages of exploration, discovery, conceptualization, and development.
I achieved core value one the best throughout my Definition argument. Within my original draft of my definition, Professor Hodges left considerable feedback on my post. I took the time and reworked my new definition argument three times. I edited everything from top to bottom. My flow and clarity have considerably changed, and it should be apparent to my readers what I am trying to say now. For example, if you take a look at the opening paragraph of my definition rewrite, you can see significant revisions. Professor recommended that I make it more evident to my readers what I am trying to prove and that I should create a name for my proposal. I ended up naming it “Green water town proposal” to give my readers a better visual of what I am creating.
Core Value 2. My work demonstrates that I read critically, and that I placed texts into conversation with one another to create meaning by synthesizing ideas from various discourse communities.
Within my definition argument rewrite, I met the needs of core value two the most. In my first draft of my definition argument, I needed more outside sources, according to Professor Hodges. After reworking my argument, I found multiple companies past the beginning stages of design and trying to implement this green water technology in the real world. In my original draft, I created my own ideas first without looking at these companies. As I worked diligently on my second draft, I used these companies to back up my statements. Professor made it very apparent that if I did not include these companies, my readers would have difficulty thinking this proposal was feasible. My definition argument now depends heavily on outside sources to get my point across.
Core Value 3. My work demonstrates that I rhetorically analyzed the purpose, audience, and contexts of my own writing and other texts and visual arguments.
I believe that my visual rhetoric rewrite achieved core value three. Within the visual rhetoric assignment, we were told to choose a 30-sec video and watch it without sound. We were also instructed to watch second by second and take notes. Upon carefully examining my 30-second video, I took many notes on what the filmmaker was trying to convey to his readers. I learned that within each second of the film, the filmmaker did everything on purpose. For example, in my assignment, I noted, ” It seems to be a wealthy neighborhood based on what they are wearing and what looks like an Audi or BMW in the background. The houses are also above average, with lovely landscaping surrounding them.” Within my notes, I made sure to carefully note what the filmmaker’s intentions were scene by scene and how their viewers could portray them.
Core Value 4: My work demonstrates that I have met the expectations of academic writing by locating, evaluating, and incorporating illustrations and evidence to support my own ideas and interpretations.
My causal rewrite argument demonstrates core value four the best. Within my argument, I carefully hand-selected my sources, making sure each one had different opinions about Greenwater management but ultimately came to the same terms. Some of my sources were the EPA, which gave me a ton of factual information that no one would have a hard time saying they aren’t accurate. I also utilized two author government websites: Philadelphia’s water department and The Department of Energy. Philadelphia water department helped me prove the differences between green and gray infrastructure, while the Department of Energy gave me numbers based on current energy usage within stormwater management plants. Although most of my paper was designed around my ideas, the sources within my causal argument gave my audience a better sense of what I was aiming for. Because of core value four, I will always keep in mind that I must always aim for the same audience throughout my paper.
Core Value 5. My work demonstrates that I respect my ethical responsibility to represent complex ideas fairly and to the sources of my information with appropriate citation.
Core value five is the most important out there. Core value five should be implemented within every assignment you complete for eternity. Without proper citations or misinterpreting an author’s piece of work on purpose, you are plagiarizing. Plagiarizing results in failing the course and even as far as getting expelled from said school. If I were to write and publish any type of work, I would hate for someone to take my work and not give me the proper credit for it. I found that my White Paper ensured that I accurately provided each article with proper credit and correctly used the side they have taken. My white paper includes all the sources I have ever accessed about stormwater management with perfect APA citations and summaries that accurately summarize the article as the author intended.
This is beautifully specific, BB. I remember challenging the class to include details of their actual experience in the Reflective Statement, so that readers would understand the topics and gain insight into the actual arguments. You’ve done that splendidly.
