Claims – duck

“Our goal is to make the parents the strongest parents they can be” is a casual claim because it claims a cause and effect relationship,  saying that they’re going to make the parents into  stronger parents.

“in a family system, every member of that system is going to be impacted” is a factual claim because they are saying this as if it is a  concrete, hard fact

“You’re on your own” is a definition claim, as it simply states what the  circumstances are.

“This is a good time [for the VA] to make partners with the community so we can make good referrals” is a recommendation claim because they are recommending that the VA makes partners with the community.

“for the vast majority of people with the secondary traumatization model, the most important way to help the family deal with things is to ensure that the veteran gets effective treatment” is a recommendation claim because they are recommending that vets get effective treatment

“We’re better than we were” is a comparative claim because it is comparing them to their past selves.

    —The word is “cAUsal.”
—I agree the claim is Causal. It’s also a Proposal claim and Evaluative in that it proposes parents can be made stronger through intervention of the program and that it offers to achieve that goal.

“in a family system, every member of that system is going to be impacted” is a factual claim because they are saying this as if it is a concrete, hard fact

—The claim may sound Factual, but it’s based on an evaluation of evidence. If the claim was, “out of 100 families surveyed, 100 reported that every member of the family was impacted,” THAT would be a Factual claim.

“You’re on your own” is a definition claim, as it simply states what the circumstances are.

—Maybe. It sounds to me like a Proposal claim. “If you want help, you’re going to have to help yourself.”

Feel free to revise for Grade Improvement, but be sure to let me know you’ve made revisions; otherwise, I probably will not notice.
