When hearing in class that we had to write about an article called Stone Money it really caught my interest because when I hear money I want know more about.Hearing the word money bring joy to my ears.Little did I know the money I thought we was going to talking turned to be something more interesting and understanding. As I read keep looking at the title I realized it was talking about island.
The concept of money that you really don’t own money. The only real way you own money is when you spend because now you are giving or trading in for something else.In the podcast “The invention of Money” they talked about where does money really go and how it is fiction. We do not really own or money, the bank and other things own it.In yap you was able to get a stone and trade for warrior from your village.Kinda like how we bye a new pair of shoes. As going father into the podcast you didn’t have to carry everywhere u went people just knew. The intrinsic value of money is it just an idea that you think you have money.Brazilians started trusting currency when they realize saw cars, malls, new shoes that tv was advertising.
Now in the second podcast call “The Island of Stone Money. As I was listen to the podcast Yap was hard place to travel. In Yap they had to agree that this stone will be worth money. Also thy used the stone wisely they didn’t spend on pair sneaks. They used for if someone stole there crops. Also I never realized how money is just something that we consult loan out, we never really keep money because we have to pay bills and other things.
After listen to the pod cast I then read the article.I came across that it was talking about history of yap and how their money system. How the stone can be as big as a car and getting more into details in the stone is that it will get passed on all over.So for example one day I can have and the next you can have it.That is kinda how today world is but only with cash or a credit card. How fake money save Brazil.Brail people didn’t really understand the value of money. Then when they realized they can exchange things to get things they back to normal
After reading the article, and the 2 podcast, I realized money is what I thought it was to be.I also that money was ours, but when you really dig deep down inside and listen to the podcast it makes you second think. You really realize that money you have now is not yours. When you die you can’t take the money with you it just all goes back into the government or back into the system.
