  1. Apple’s FacePalm Bug

It seems counterintuitive that something used religiously in our everyday lives has the ability to teach our every move and spy on us without any knowledge. Grant Thompson, a teenager exposed this ability through a multi-person FaceTime call which eventually resulted in an underappreciated and unsuccessfully warning to Apple. This result is a prime example of how frightening the idea that there isn’t enough awareness and security  in preventing viruses and hacking in Apple devices. Apple who  claims to have high level security is now being exposed by sources who claim these incidents are way too common to not catch.  This has to raise questions on how many more cases they also aren’t catching. To combat the backlash Apple has released rewards to anyone who finds bugs in the software or hackers are less inclined to keep these threatening secrets to themselves. All in all this doesn’t take away from the fact that hacks like the one Thompson discovered still existed and was discovered by teens.

2. Vancouver combats heroin by giving its addicts the best smack in the world

It might seem counterintuitive for the government to hand out free heroin to  heroin addicts in hopes to fight a drug problem. Surprisingly this is exactly what Vancouver doctors are doing. It’s not a new theme that addicts are able to safely and legally shoot at sites, but the addition of the heroin itself that’s new. is meant to aid those that aren’t able to take to alternatives usually used to get clean. Addicts can only receive the treatment by getting it prescribed from a doctor, and so far only 26 residents have gotten it.  The idea is  meant to aid those who aren’t able to take other alternatives typically used to get clean.  Some addicts say the program has saved them from trying to illegally get and use the drug. This is important because it can  prevent overdosing. Though some critics believe the program only holds the addiction over the patient’s head rather than actually confronting the problem, the city’s government looks to be leaning towards having safe addicts, rather than dead ones.

3. Pizza Hut at the Pyramids

It seems counterintuitive that people travel across the world to see historical places like the Pyramids of Giza and how their people lived, yet there is a fully commercialized city right next to the Pyramids. The Pyramids of Giza, one of the seven wonders of the world,  is a trademark of ancient civilization at large. Are we really doing this historical place and justice when we have placed a fully modern town within viewing distance of the site? Although an incredible showing of modernization in today’s world, the Pyramids of Giza, a burial place for leaders of the ancient Egyptians, standing next to fast food restaurants and hotels is not only a mockery of the pyramids beauty, it’s also an example of Americanization of the world at large.

4. The Marshmallow Test

It seems counterintuitive that nursery students who waited until the experimenter came back are the ones described to have done better in life. No results in this experiment were recorded to  show evidence of students who had eaten the treat before the experimenter came back and how they ended up in the long run. The article only focuses on the students who “succeeded” in the experiment. Although argued that the testers who ate the treat before the experimenter in fact do not perform as well as the ones who waited late in life. It’s obvious Not all students do poorly in life just because they had chosen to eat a treat in a
