Hypothesis- manipulator

  1. Prisoner treatment.
  2. How the incarcerated are affected by the prison experience.
  3. The effect punishment in prisons has on creating repeat offenders.
  4. Punishment experienced in prisons has a direct relation to the number of repeat offenders it produces.
  5.  Punishment more suited to an offender’s crime has an impact on the possibility that they would become a repeat offender.
  6. Treating prisoners with more respect and providing them with helpful resources rather than harsher punishments would lower the number of repeat offenders.

Your point is really good and I like how you worded your hypothesis at the end. I guess if I had to think of any feedback, you could be specific about which helpful resources to provide them.

  2. I really like the concept your working with here and think that looking at repeat offenders is fantastic. It is almost intuitive but I feel like it fits the counterintuitive theme properly. Maybe adding one more controversial/counterintuitive aspect could add to it but its also good as is.

I like recidivism as a topic. I agree with alwaystired247 that some specifics could be in order, but as someone who’s interested in the subject I also understand that could be a long and complicated list potentially. I’d personally suggest really focusing in on not just helpful resources but also how the differences in sentencing affect this dynamic.
