- Mental health changes in competitive environments
- Worsening mental health in young eAthletes
- Competing in competitive gaming can strain/worsen mental health
- There are very good and effective methods to stabilizing mental health while competing in competitive gaming.
- The main problem with the worsening mental health of many eAthletes is because of the structure of paying out players based on their placement in events/tournaments.
- Eliminating the payout structure of competitive gaming events would decrease the amount of stress on players, thus making them play at their best.
Professor David Hodges

What should I call you? I prefer David or Dave, but students uncomfortable with first names can call me Professor or Mister Hodges. My ESL students' charming solution, "Mister David" is my favorite by far.

I do really enjoy this hypothesis, especially from the content. Since eSports is so new, there is a lot of undiscovered information on it, especially the mental health of the players. I do have a question though to gauge your thoughts. Would you argue that the other payment styles within sports is also flawed? Hasn’t there been examples of professional athletes mailing it in early because they knew they were getting paid regardless?
I like your hypothesis because mental health is a very important thing. Also would you argue with someone if they didn’t believe if that mental was in sports, what if they believe in something like mental health is just in women or like in a specific gender. What if the mental health is not just because they pay out what if it something different.
Would “changing” be a better word here than “eliminating”? It doesn’t sound as powerful, sure, but it’s not like the players don’t need to make a living and your critique is more about the relationship between making that living and performance.
