A Meditation on Elderly Animals

It seems counterintuitive that the love that people express for elderly animals rivals that of a love for people. The value we as people place on these animals may have a dangerous outcome for these animals. Looking at these older animals and seeing how some can be seen as defiant of their inevitable demise. Contrary to that, you see the fatigue the animals are facing and how maybe it is time to send them over the rainbow bridge. What we do in response to these withered old faces is purely an expression of the human’s ability for compassion.

Just because an animal is old and doesn’t serve the traditional purpose we have them for doesn’t mean that they can’t still live their lives. Seeing these old pictures and seeing what they’re capable of only further proves that these old animals and our care for them can not only be euphoric for us, but also giving an animal a chance to live out its golden years.

There is a clear point of suffering for an animal but to just so casually discard it as an excuse to alleviate stress both financial and emotional is just not fair to anyone.

Is This Photo Ethical

It seems counterintuitive that so many people are against this. The photo of a fifteen year old girl killed by police for stealing is a look at humanity’s ugly side. To question its morality is something that sounds a lot like the tools and rhetoric carried out by totalitarians. The second photo showing the group of photographers lined up trying to get a shot of it is just a look into the methods of collecting information. It is sad that the girl was shot and killed, but she would just be another statistic and not someone we could identify if not for the photographers. Questioning the morality of the photo is one more step to censorship. The people deserve the truth and these photographers are defending us each and every day by giving us the stories.

The hyper-politicized press as of late has been an issue but just purely on principle, these men and women should keep taking these pictures no matter what kind of threats and outside pressure they receive. Calling it unethical and questioning the reasoning is just one step closer to becoming authoritarian.

Romney, corporate welfare king

It seems counterintuitive that Romney would go against his conservative views and become a part of the corporate welfare system. In 2012 President Obama had a larger chance of losing than ever before. Brining out a milquetoast conservative like Mitt Romney seemed like the best chance the GOP had. Romney had found out to be finding loophole after loophole.

A company he often cited as a great investment had received tax breaks and resembled the bailout policies he so strongly opposed. Romney was portrayed as very free market but his reliance on these buyouts, subsidies, and other tax breaks turned him from someone us conservatives had hoped and thought could be our future, to someone that was less excitable and was going to not move our ideas any farther.

More mainstream conservative vies we hold paint Romney as a hypocrite and as a Republican in name only. Looking at his connection to Bain and their investment ventures you can see that he doesn’t care about changing policy, he cares about getting a quick buck and the views he claims to hold are only to pander and try to buy votes. His empathetic conservatism was just another nail in the coffin of three failed attempts at winning the country over, which thankfully led to a more rational and more cultural conservatism.

Just a quick note to acknowledge I’ve seen your Summaries. Insufferable feedback to follow.

In what poses as an innocent homework assignment, you’ve managed to display a big heart and equally big stones, Bully. Love your “tell it like it is” approach.
