I plan on writing about the gendercide that is happening in China and India. I will cover the umbrella topic of gendercide itself and then move on to infanticide and feticide.
Source 1. http://www.allgirlsallowed.org/gendercide
Background-The organization provides statistics about the ratios between men and women in China. Discusses China’s one child policy and how it has impacted the populations. Also, provides the definition of gendercide.
How I plan to use it- I want to use the statistics in my paper.
Source 2. “It’s a Girl”, Netflix documentary.
Background- The documentary discusses the issues of gendercide in India and China. It provides personal accounts of the mothers and fathers and their experiences with gendercide.
How I plan to use it- I want to include the personal accounts in my paper. I think that it give the paper some depth and hopefully make it relatable. Facts and figures can only do so much.

Source 4. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20879612
Background- This brief article discusses feticide in India. Also, the laws against such actions but the economical value of continuing to abort females.
How I plan to use it- I want to talk about the the political aspects of gendercide and how laws are meant to protect these women but their social structure and beliefs are so strong that such actions are not frowned upon.
Source 5. http://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2013/03/05/humanity-is-not-a-plague-on-earth-column/1965485/
Background- The article is stating that the fear of overcrowding the world is out dated and that we should move on from that notion. Says that growth rates are declining and due to wealth and education.
How I plan to use it- I want to argue the article and say that perhaps gendercide is a possible solution for growth rates.
Casmir, until Source 5, you didn’t give your reader the slightest indication what any of your sources ARGUE. We learn only in the most general way what they’re ABOUT. In other words, you tell us only the topic, not the thesis.
In 5, you take a strong step in the right direction. I know more about that one source than about all the others combined. I know you disagree with its conclusion and that you plan to make an argument of your own.
I should learn all of that and more from each of your other entries (1-4). If I do, I can be of some help to you. If I don’t, I’ll have no idea what exactly you’re proposing, whether the proposal is feasible, or how to help you if you need it. OK?
