Morph – Ryan Moyer

The Bush – Obama morph picture is truly an incredible work of digital art. It is amazing to see how alike they can really look with some editing. I can’t help but feel that there is some other motive to the picture though. In the picture of Bush on the left, it seems to be much darker than Obama on the right. The background is much darker and I would even say that he is smirking a little. I feel though as this may be intentional however. Perhaps the artist of the picture did not like Bush as a president very much and was extremely gratified when Obama was elected to presidency. Even though it shows Bush’s face being morphed into Obama’s, it almost seems like a change from dark, to light. The dark smirk of Bush, slowly turns into a bright smile from Obama.

I start to wonder however if I’m only seeing this due to my political opinion. The fact that the color of the background changing doesn’t really justify my response, I’m only giving my opinion of the artist. Another perception of the picture could be that the fact that they can be morphed to appear that they look the same, may lead to thinking they are the same. Maybe the author is giving the perception that even though it’s a different person, they both stand for the same thing. Maybe he feels, like others may feel, that you’re voting for the best of two evils. Your vote is such a fraction of the total votes of the country and in the end, you really don’t have much of a choice. Needless to say this is an amazing piece of art and is a prime example of the phrase, “A picture is worth 1,000 words.”
