• During the first 10 days of quarantine, while everyone was supposed to be under the “stay at home order” there were 52 shootings in the city of philadelphia. 
• Covid affected economically certain social groups which could not afford to stay at home and it heightened stress of pandemic casualty. 
• Covid cases increasing and violence resulted in limited resources at hospitals, there were also staff shortages during the time. 
• There were also short supplies on guns which resulted in gun shops closing in Pennsylvania but were eventually added to the Pennsylvania essential services and were forced to open back up. 
• Around 1 million background checks were performed in march 2020 than in march 2019. Small Arms Analytics And Forecasting ( SAAF) had a a91% increase in handgun sales within two months (  march 2020). 
• Domestic violence increased 5 fold with a handgun at home. 
• Steps to solving this problem: recognizing that the problem is getting worse.

• Donald W. Dowd had a conversation with the governor Hugh Scott. He stated that the governor sent him a letter stating that he had protected his interest in hunting by killing a gun control bill. Dowd replied back saying that in Philadelphia he felt more like the hunted than the hunter.

• The second amendment has emotional, political and historical pull, but now it has had little effect on a constitutional limit.

• Ghost guns are made by 3D printers which is the same way toys are made in the United States. Several states have tried to regulate these new weapons. 
• Solution: sale of 3D printers should be mandated with a software that refuses to build guns or parts of it. 
• (Hella v. D.C precedent) feds have the power when it comes to 3D printed firearms under the commerce clause.

4. current state of my research

I have been writing down different topics which seems like a good idea to touch on since they all contribute to my hypothesis as to why the second amendment should be banned in the city of Philadelphia. Iv’e also been summarizing and reading different books and articles that touch on the unsafe environment and trying to match it with legal studies in order to justify my hypothesis.
