Citation – stingingcrib

In author Richard Davies’ article for the New York Times, “The Fiction That Makes The World Go Round,” he states how out of all the things we rely on in the day, nothing is as strange as money. Money is a confidence booster. It’s just a piece of paper that promises us value. While evaluating the book Money: The True Story Of A Made-Up Thing by Jacob Goldstein, he states that money “ is a made up thing, a shared fiction. Money is fundamentally, unalterably social.” Both Goldstein and Davies’ discuss how money is fiction. It was given a value so everyone just follows by it.
