Money is constantly being circulated and used every day, yet nothing is as strange as money becayse we don’t fully understand it. In Richard Davies’ New York Times article, “The Fiction That Makes the World Go Round,” he mentions  how money is nothing more than a confidence booster  “an i.o.u. printed on cheap material that promises the holder nothing but more paper money.” Davies’ article, a book review of Jacob Goldstein’s Money: The True Story of a Made Up Thing, discusses the theme that money “ is a made up thing, a shared fiction. Money is fundamentally, unalterably social.”  Both authors agree that money is nothing short of a piece of paper with a made up value.
