   I love the basic premise here, BreakingBad, and you’ve done some good first-draft work narrowing your very broad thesis. It’s hard NOT to be in favor of using trees to reduce air pollution, add oxygen to the atmosphere, provide shade, lower temperatures, etc.

   And that may be a small problem with your work so far. Who would oppose it? Why do we need to argue about it?

   Clearly there must be resistance somewhere to your obviously logical and evidently beneficial recommendation because it’s not happening. How come? Why aren’t cities gradually blooming instead of becoming evermore concretized?

   I’ll bet there are plenty of missed opportunities to “green” spaces that have outlived their original commercial purposes. What if, for example, every failed shopping center was required to tear up its asphalt (which, by the way, is the world’s most-recycled material) and install a park, pond, water garden, nut- or fruit-tree grove, etc?

   Or what if restrictions on car traffic inside cities made parking garages obsolete and they had to be converted to terraced farms?

   I’m being a little outrageous on purpose to challenge you to do the same. What’s the RADICAL way to implement your proposal to green those now-grey spaces? Find a proposal that will make at least half your audience think you’re nuts but that you think you might be able to support with evidence and a lot of ingenuity.

   I believe this is a good topic to write about and I do think we need more green everywhere especially how so many trees are being taken out.
