  1. It seems counterintuitive that supplementing vitamins and minerals can not only be detrimental to your health but also to your wallet. Adequate amounts of specific vitamins are essential to ones overall well being, however it has been shown that for most they are contributing more harm than good. Researchers have found that most vitamin users actually get sufficient amounts through food alone. This is an issue as the consumption of excess vitamins and minerals can put users at a higher risk of developing things like heart disease or colorectal cancer, as well as wasting money. Hearing this makes me question what other lifestyle products that I am purchasing that can be negatively impacting my life. This is why it is crucial that we do our research when it comes to things like this as prevention of health issues and wasted money.
  2. It seems counterintuitive that a mental illness can be passed to another without the presence of genetics. However, an instance that occurred a few years ago is suggesting otherwise when a woman named Brannan Vines, a wife to veteran who experiences PTSD, experienced intense symptoms of the illness within a CVS. Moreover, Brannan became extremely enraged when she heard the sound of change clinging. This is a trigger seen by ex-military person as it is similar to the sound of gun shells hitting the ground. Instances like this raise the concern as to whether it is possible to develop symptoms of a mental illness from constantly being around someone who suffers from it. Furthermore, it makes me question if it is safe to heavily associate myself with people who suffer from mental illness, being that I may develop the illness myself. Therefore, it is vital we consciously monitor our relationships with others and further research the topic to find answers.
  3. It seems counterintuitive that what was considered rape was dependent on certain factors. In Mississippi, well into the 90’s, the raping of a woman was heavily constituted on whether she is pure or not. Moreover if she was pure then it was rape, however if she was impure then it was not. Being that this was under 30 years ago, this raises the question as to whether or not some still believe in this policy. It sets the stage for the argument that sexual assaults is something that should be heavily taught within the education system because history often repeats itself. Therefore, in order to prevent this inhumane approach once practiced, people must be educated about the history and the serious of the topic in todays society.

Just a quick note to acknowledge I’ve seen your Summaries. Insufferable feedback to follow.

I appreciate your courage in going after the touchy subjects of mental illness and rape in an innocent homework assignment, Spy. That’s my kind of scholarship.
