Your first draft of the Hypothesis for your season-long research project is due in just about 24 hours. I’ve had plenty of time to work on mine. You have not. I don’t expect a polished product the first week of class, but neither do I want to waste any time “brainstorming” about a broad topic. The sooner you and I can interact over your proposal, the sooner you can start to feel confident in your decision.
If you can manage a very specific hypothesis (like step 6) that develops from a much-too-broad topic (like step 1), your “My Hypothesis” post will look like this:
Helmets Should be Eliminated from the NFL
- concussions in football
- concussions and helmet design in NFL football
- the effect of improved helmet design on the number of concussions suffered by players in NFL games
- Helmet designs that act like shock absorbers to reduce the impact of helmet-to-helmet blows will reduce the number of concussions suffered by players in NFL games.
- Eliminating helmet-to-helmet blows would radically reduce the number of concussions suffered by players in NFL games.
- Eliminating helmets from NFL games would reduce concussions more than helmet improvements by making players very reluctant to engage in the most dangerous plays.
Notice the Name of the post:
My Hypothesis—davidbdale
Yours should be the same so I can find it in the sidebar of the blog. But substitute your own username, of course.
Notice that it also has a Title:
Helmets Should Be Eliminated from the NFL
