It’s an interesting topic, shepardspy. It’s probably too broad as currently configured, but you’ll need time and research to narrow it down and make it more worthwhile.

The best, first approach would be to settle on a sport. Until you do, the temptation will be to shotgun observations over a very broad horizon. Your observations about meditation are already quite numerous. It makes players more mindful. It reduces their anxiety. It enhances their mind-muscle connection. It therefore improves their performance.

You’ll have no trouble finding academic sources.
My very quick search of Google Scholar for [+meditation +”sports performance”] yielded “About 2,670 results in (0.03 sec).” Here they are:

Like all feedback, this is meant to begin a conversation, shepardspy.
I am eager to hear your reply.

Thank you for the insight. I really appreciate the idea of settling on a sport. Next, settling on one of the numerous observations would be a good idea also.

I make that recommendation to help you avoid the trap of settling into a “survey-style” essay in which you devote small unconnected observations on a number of loosely-connected sub-topics. The sooner you narrow your field of study, the sooner you’ll find that your research into what started out small, even tiny, will branch out unavoidably.

For example. I notice from your “class photo” you’re wearing a shirt commemorating Winter Olympics. So, instead of researching “sport” plus “meditation,” you might consider searching “olympic athlete” plus “meditation” as I did at Google Scholar. Here are the 1700 results:
        https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C31&q=%22olympic+athletes%22+meditation&btnG=

It occurs to me that meditation might be just the ticket for individual-performance sports like downhill skiing or speed skate racing where a calmness of mind might be a huge advantage.

Start immediately, SS, and keep feeding your interest as first sources lead to others. This could be a very worthwhile paper.

        Your reactions, please.

Great observation with my sweatshirt! I will definitely search on scholar after class later to narrow it down. Should I edit this hypothesis or make a new post?
