This video is what really got me interested in the topic. Annie Murphy Paul covers a wide range of material about fetuses learning processes in the womb. I learned that babies learn the mothers voice very early on, by listening to the mothers voice is prepares them to learn their native language, and they can taste food through the amniotic fluid in the womb. Among many other things, this video was very interesting.

This article covers some of the same things that were said in the video above, but they also mention different facts that interest me and further my knowledge on the subject. fetuses practice breathing in the womb, exercise their reflexes by kicked their arms and legs, and also grow very curious of whats around them. They often pull and swing at their own umbilical. Researchers have also seen evidence of REM cycles through ultrasounds, which means the fetus is actually dreaming.
This article gets in-depth into the study of word recognition for babies. Once learned in the womb they see that they can recognize these words more likely then a word they weren’t conditioned to know in the womb.

FAS can severely disrupt the learning processes of a fetus, and permanently affect the child as it grows up. I think it would be interesting to see the difference between the learning process of a baby who doesn’t have FAS and a baby who does have it.

Babies having the ability to anticipate touch is very telling. This can show wether a baby is ready to be born or not. Once the fetus becomes aware of its body it can start to calm itself down by sucking on its hands or feet.
